Vivy hadn’t come outside with the intention of seducing her husband. She really had wanted to use the telescope, having been curious about it since Dean first mentioned it.

But with Dean’s mouth on hers and his hands exploring her hips, her back, her breasts, seduction seemed much, much better than watching the moon.

She put a hand to his cheek, the better to anchor herself. He’d just shaved, his skin whisper smooth beneath her palm. The contrast between that and the springy hair on his chest twisted within her, making her shift beneath his hands.

“Easy,” he murmured. “I’ve got you.”

And he did, his body enclosing hers easily, even with all the changes from her pregnancy. His hands were so steady, so capable, his cowboy astronaut hero hands, running over her belly now, as if he couldn’t explore it enough, as if it were changing too fast for him to keep up. It certainly felt that way sometimes to Vivy.

“So beautiful,” he said again as he kissed her cheek, then her temple, then her jaw. He ran his tongue down her neck, and she shivered. How could he put that much hunger and restraint only in the swipe of his tongue? The man was unnaturally talented.

“Dean.” She lifted her chin, giving him more access to her neck, her breasts, all of her. She didn’t feel ruined—not her figure nor her reputation—when he was touching her like this. She felt perfect. Beautiful, just like he’d said.

Why couldn’t they do this again?

“Dean.” She put a hand on his chest, giving herself a few inches to think. He strained to reach her anyway, all his strength pressing against her palm. “What about work?”

Margie had told her today that Dean would be testing the space suit soon, information that Dean himself had never bothered to give to her. The stupid no-sex rule had seemed the height of ridiculousness… until Vivy faced down the reality of her own husband doing something very dangerous, very soon. If he was distracted and something went wrong, Vivy would never forgive herself. Maybe Dean should hold it all in until the flight was over.

One of her sorority sisters had dated a quarterback who did that—held himself aloof a few days before a game. Maybe that was something men just did, to keep their brains functioning under high stress.

Something like guilt crossed Dean’s face. “What about work?”

He had to be kidding her. Vivy gestured between them. “The rule? About the sex?”

“Oooh.” He nodded. “Yeah, that rule.”

“Wait, what did you think I meant?”

“Nothing. That rule, that’s what I was thinking of. Not anything else.”

Vivy knew he was lying—dear Dean was not practiced at it, clearly—but she didn’t know enough about ASD to figure out what it could be. She’d have to ask Margie about it tomorrow.

Which reminded her of their conversation a few days ago. “Is, uh, is everyone at ASD following the rule?” she asked casually.

Specifically, did you know that Greg and Betty Henkins aren’t? Vivy wasn’t going to betray Betty by
